POSITION: Internship in Web writing and editing

DESCRIPTION:

Office of Communications & Marketing Internship Program. The DU Office of Communications & Marketing (OCM) seeks an intern editorial assistant to help with research, writing and online production of www.DU.edu, the University Web site. The intern will earn an hourly wage. The interns schedule may be flexible, with some hours worked outside of the office to conduct interviews or attend events. However, the intern will be expected to work with his/her supervisor to determine a regular work schedule, request time off in advance, be on time and meet all deadlines. The position will accommodate time off during scheduled academic breaks and final exams. Professional writing experience and knowledge of A.P. style is preferred. Students studying marketing, public relations, journalism or advertising will be given first consideration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Research, write, edit and proofread content for DU Web pages, including feature articles for the DU homepage

- Write content that embodies and is consistent with the DU brand; that meets the Universitys goals for communicating with prospective students and alumni; that is crafted for on-screen reading; and that is user-focused, engaging and dynamic

- Fact-check and perform background research for Web content

- Work with Web editors to strengthen writing, content editing and copyediting skills as needed

- Use multimedia content to enhance and supplement text content on Web pages

- Learn to use a content management system to create, edit and update Web pages

- Regularly maintain Web pages to ensure that they are up-to-date and accurate

- Suggest new and innovative feature stories, Web content, calendar events and rich media that are consistent with the DU brand and meet the Universitys communication goals

- Work with other University departments as needed to help them develop effective Web content that aligns with the Universitys strategic vision for Web content

OCM Intern Requirements:

- Junior, senior or graduate class standing

- Cumulative GPA of 3.0

- Letter of recommendation from faculty member

- Demonstrated experience or equivalent coursework in the desired internship area (portfolios, work samples, etc. are encouraged)

- Minimum commitment of 15 hours per week

- Commitment of three academic quarters is preferred; a minimum of two quarters is required.

POSITION: Sr Web Developer:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop and maintain web applications
