This course involves the basics of collecting, digitizing and manipulating sound and video/still images while engaging in a theoretical exploration of the field of interactive media. Students will learn to program using Processing and shift to Flash to further explore interactivity and animation. 4 credit hours.

DMST 3215: Introduction to Field Production and Editing
This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of television production with a focus on pre-production, field shooting and post-production editing. Facets of post- production include tape logging, paper edits, non-linear editing, and much more. Also included are the fundamentals of video field shooting. lighting and gathering sound. Because people are the most important part of any production, emphasis will be placed on your ability to work effectively with class members. 4 credit hours.

DMST 3230: Multimedia Authoring Tools
This course examines advanced approaches to interaction, concentrating on physical interfaces other than the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Programming and exploration with the Arduino open source board will be emphasized. 4 credit hours.

DMST 3501: Web Building and Site Management
This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts of Web site development and management, including HTML, HTML CSS, graphical Web-building tools, multilevel site planning and construction, navigation schemes, basic interactivity (via Javascript and CGI), information organization, Web site management and delivery of basic multimedia content. 4 credit hours.

This course introduces the tools and techniques of digital audio production, including: sampling and synthesis; sound editing and effects processing; multitrack recording; audio sequencing and mastering; and distribution. 4 credit hours.

DMST 3560: Advanced Digital Audio Production
Advanced Digital Audio Production emphasizes the creation and delivery of digital audio works in interactive installations and live performances. Class assignments cover: the curation of and contribution to Web-based sound art exhibits; a major interactive project for the Web, gallery or live performance (your choice); and streaming collaborative networks. 4 credit hours.

DMST 3600: Introduction to 3D Modeling and Animation
This course will serve as an introduction to 3d modeling, texturing, lighting and animation on the computer. Students will complete a series of projects in which the processes of preparing and producing a 3D piece will be explored. Various strategies and techniques for creating detailed models to be used in animation will be examined. Animation concepts, such as keyframing, and procedural animation, will be discussed and utilized in the student projects. Additional attention will be spent on virtual camera techniques as well as the use of compositing in creating final pieces. Current trends in the field will be addressed through the analysis and discussion of current and historical examples. 4 credit hours.

DMST 3630: Character Animation
Character Animation course is centered around the traditional character animation principles with an emphasis on mechanics of movement rather than performance. We will also cover rigging characters for animation as well. The Spring class is the extension where we delve more into acting with the characters. 4 credit hours.

DMST 4150: Technical Foundations of Digital Media II
This course will provide an introduction to interactive concepts and programming. Using current tools, such as Macromedia Flash, as a development platform, issues of production process, interface, interaction and information design will be discussed. Additionally the course will touch upon employing animation and motion within the interface. After gaining experience within the timeline development environment, students will learn basic programming concepts to extend their digital practices within this tool. Basic programming concepts will be explored as well as object oriented approaches to programming. 4 credit hours.
